Evan Taylor

Evan Taylor is a young, enterprising artist with years of performing, arranging, and recording experience. “His trumpet work is outstanding. This is a name to watch for in the next few years.” said Fernando Rodriguez de Mondesert, JazzTimes. Chicago Jazz Magazine wrote about Taylor’s compositions, “warm solos and an infectious melodies that make his pieces absorbing.” Taylor grew up in Michigan, and after traveling and retaining academic degrees in music education, he served two years in Miami as the Jazz Trumpet Professor at Broward College.

 

While teaching, he spent his weekends slowly building his performance career as a sideman for artists such as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Gloria Estefan, Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, Eric Darius, Regina Belle, Najee, Candy Dulfer, the Righteous Brothers, Delfeayo Marsalis & The Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Nicole Henry, & Justin Lee Schultz. As a session recording artist, he has collaborated with top film producers to create music for Sony, Warner Brothers, Universal, Netflix, CBS, BET, and HGTV. Currently, Taylor resides in Bloomington, IN, where he pursues his doctoral degree in jazz studies at the Indiana University: Jacobs School of Music. He is employed by the African American Arts Institute as an Assistant Instructor for the IU Soul Revue.
