Born in Nagano, Japan, Otoe was given a name that means “blessed with music,” a fitting reflection of her lifelong connection to the art of music. Inspired by the sounds of her father’s saxophone and clarinet, she discovered a deep connection to music at an early age. Her passion continued growing throughout her school years while performing in middle and high school bands, before eventually studying music formally at YAMAHA Music Academy.

While studying, Otoe successfully auditioned for the brass pop band Brass Plus, who released an album under Sony Music Entertainment and toured extensively across Japan performing as a multi-instrumentalist with both saxophone and clarinet. She also performed in the Japanese musical adaptation of Mr. Holland’s Opus, sharing the stage with prominent Japanese actors.

In 2003, Otoe moved to the United States with her husband and quickly immersed herself in the local music scene. Over the years, she has performed with a diverse range of accomplished artists and bands including Adam Hawley, Christopher Williams, Pete Escovedo, Joel Del Rosario, Humanistic, James Levi

(Herbie Hancock), Robin Duhe (MAZE), Carlos Reyes, Pee Wee Ellis, John Elefante (Kansas), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Kevin Chalfant (The Storm & Journey), and Randall Hall (Lynyrd Skynyrd).

In 2020, Otoe became an official member of Smooth Jazz Alley, joining keyboardist/producer Marco Montoya and drummer/producer Kevin Lewis. She made her studio debut with the group in 2022 with the single “Deep Into You,” followed by the release of their EP Here’s The Thing in 2023. The group later

signed with Innervision Records, releasing their first single with the label, “Come On!” Most recently, Smooth Jazz Alley released the single “Believe” in February 2026.
